Things go fast !

On Saturday I was an Digital Immigrant, and was quite satisfied with it. The term defined me in term of when my digital knowledge came about without restricting me from becoming even more savvy as a Digital native. It is only two days latter and now I hear of the Digital Melting pot! I also read that I might be a digital colonist and have Digital wisdom. At this point, whatever label I choose to give myself, I am going to remain ...a lifelong learner. Is'nt it what I
have always been afterall.

  1. Digital native, Digital melting pot, etc., All these new terms creates more need to read alot more regarding DE. As I am new to some of these technologies, it feels overwhelming at times to grasp all that is going in inthe DE world and all that I need to know. I am getting it, slowly but surely. Thanks for introducing me to a few new words and the idea of Digital.

  2. Irene,

Since we are in a digital melting pot, usually professors understand that students come from all different expertise levels with computers and software. When I teach online, I often have those who are Webtycho experts and those who need additional assistance. Knowing these different levels, I make design accomodations within the course, so no one feels isolated without support and understanding.

  3. Irene,

Your ideas are so true! I am considered a digital native, yet I am learning constantly from peers and instructors who, be definition, would be considered digital immigrants!

Lifelong learning is the real goal and those individuals in my leaning experience have truly been steller examples!
