Effective teaching

As I read more and more on the subject of Distance Education , I am discovering that the entire system of education is at stake here. Distance Education is no longer a separate entity from F2F education . DE is education, because it represents the world we live in and the students we serve. In fact DE should no longer considered itself a detached dimension of F2F, it is in fact the essence of good teaching and accountability.

  1. I agree 100%with youridea regarding the need to change our views or thinking regardingthe joining of DE with f2f. I still have some skepticisms about DE, but not as I did 2 months ago. My views arrive from negative feedback from others as it relates to DE degrees. I have learned so much as of my first day in this and my other course, that I am feeling more optimistic about the direction that I am taking.
    Thanks, great post.

  2. Irene,

What is amazing is that many institutions who once snubbed DE, are entering their hats in the ring. Prestigious institutions are now seeing the potential of DE and the possible revenue involved. As we move into future, DE will have more quality technology, more seasoned online instructors, and a better acceptance of DE as a whole. A very positive future is ahead!

  3. Irene,

I agree that we should consider DE and F2F learning to merely be in different environments. The best practices and principles of each are very similar given today's expectations for teaching and learning.

    Great post!
